-The first official 4th of July Party was held at the White House in 1801.

-The 4th of July was not a declared a national holiday until 1941.

Cooking with Lug Nut

Sloppy Joe Race Cars

Get ready for the 4th of July with this fun recipe!


  • Hamburger or Ground Turkey
  • 1 can of Sloppy Joe Sauce
  • Hoagie Roll  (1 per person)

Car decorations:

  • Zucchini or Cucumber (wheels)
  • Olives or Cherry Tomatoes (headlights)
  • Pretzel Twists (steering wheel)


  • Hollow out some of the hoagie roll. Cut out a rectangle and pull out the bread.
  • Attach car wheels (zucchini slices) and headlights (olives) with toothpicks.
  • Add Sloppy Joe to the hoagie roll car
  • Eat and enjoy!
