Fans attending the May NASCAR events at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be able to take their racing experience to a new level as the Richard Petty Driving Experience offers race car rides around the legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway.

Each Ride-Along participant will receive three laps in a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup-style stock car at speeds approaching 160 mph. The cars will be driven by professional Richard Petty Driving Experience instructors.

The Ride-Alongs will be conducted from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 22; and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, May 30. Rides cost $149 each and reservations are required.

"We offered the Richard Petty Driving Experience's Ride-Alongs in conjunction with our races last May and fans told us it was the perfect way to round out their racing weekend," said H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. "Watching your favorite driver win one day and then following in his tire tracks the next is the ultimate thrill."

"Allowing fans some track time during race weeks here in Charlotte is great," said seven-time NASCAR champion Richard Petty. "Fans get to see the track from inside one of our race cars and get to experience what 160 mph feels like. I think they'll have a whole new way to watch a race after making three laps with us."

The Ride-Alongs will take place in conjunction with the May 21 NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge and the May 29 Coca-Cola 600.
