Numerous Celebrities to Attend May Races
The list of celebrities scheduled to attend events during Coca-Cola 600 and NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge weeks at Charlotte Motor Speedway includes:
Ryan Seacrest - A native of Atlanta, Seacrest is in his fourth season as host for FOX's hit show "American Idol." Seacrest started his broadcasting career at 16 with one of Atlanta's top radio stations. Before Seacrest graduated from the University of Georgia, he served as the host of ESPN's "Radical Outdoor Challenge," and was voted one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful" people in 2003.
General Peter Pace - Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., General Pace is the nation's second-highest ranking military officer in his position as vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. A U.S. Marine, Pace received his commission in June 1967 following graduation from the United States Naval Academy. Pace is a member of the National Security Council Deputies Committee and the Nuclear Weapons Council.
Leonard Nimoy - Best known for his role as Captain Spock on the "Star Trek" series, Nimoy also appeared on hit television series such as "Gunsmoke" and "Dragnet." Born in Boston, Mass., in 1931, Nimoy started his acting career in Boston community theaters at the age of 8.
Cathy Lee Crosby - Crosby was the host of one of television's most successful series, "That's Incredible." She also starred in over 60 films, made-for-television movies and mini-series. She graduated cum-laude from the University of Southern California with a degree in pre-med. In addition to her acting career, Crosby was a top-ranked national tennis player.
The Black Crowes - Led by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, The Black Crowes are one of the only modern bands to have shared the stage with such legendary artists as Jimmy Page, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead and Aerosmith. The group performed over 2,000 shows between 1990 and 2001 and sold nearly 20 million albums. The Black Crowes recently took flight again after a hiatus of over three years and will return to their southern roots with a concert prior to the May 21 NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge.
Carolina Panthers Players - Mike Minter, Mike Rucker and Stephen Davis will serve as Grand Marshals for the Quaker Steak & Lube 200 presented by Click It or Ticket on Friday night, May 20. Minter was a second round draft pick from the University of Nebraska in 1997 and is the Panthers' all-time leading tackler from his strong safety position. Also a University of Nebraska alumnus, Rucker was selected in the second round of the 1999 draft and ranks second in all-time team sacks with 36.5. Davis joined the Panthers as a free agent running back in 2003. The Spartanburg, S.C. native established single-season team records for rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, rushing attempts, 100-yard rushing games, and consecutive 100-yard rushing games.
Bill Rosinski - Rosinski is a veteran National Football League broadcaster and the former voice of the Carolina Panthers. Rosinski will assist the Charlotte Motor Speedway announcers during the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge.
