Two cars owned by 2002 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series champion Tony Stewart are among the latest entries for the Mopar Sprint Car Nationals on Wednesday night, Oct. 12, at The Dirt Track @ Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Tony Stewart Racing of Indianapolis, Ind., has filed entries for defending USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car champion Jay Drake of Val Verde, Calif., and 22-year-old rising star Josh Wise of Riverside, Calif. Wise will drive the No. 20 Mopar-sponsored Eagle chassis while Drake is slated to pilot the similar No. 21 machine.

After finishing second in the USAC sprint car point standings three times in four years, Drake drove Stewart's sprinter to four victories en route to the 2004 USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series championship. This season, the 36-year-old Drake has claimed three victories and is locked in a torrid title fight with 2004 Mopar Sprint Car Nationals winner Levi Jones and veteran Dave Darland.

Wise, in his first full season of USAC sprint car competition, has yet to visit victory lane but is fifth in the series standings on the strength of consistently strong finishes on both dirt and paved tracks.

The Mopar Sprint Car Nationals, which also includes the late model stock cars of the Dixie Thunder Series, is part of UAW-GM Quality 500 Week that culminates with round five of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup on Saturday night, Oct. 15, at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Adult tickets for the Oct. 12 Mopar Sprint Car Nationals are $25 or can be purchased as part of the SUPER Ticket that includes four nights of racing for just $99. Tickets can be purchased online here or by calling 1-800-455-FANS.
