Tyler Green, the 17-year-old son of veteran NASCAR driver Mark Green, leads the Peach Auto Body Legends Car Pro division point standings heading into round eight of the 10-race Summer Shootout Series Tuesday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Sponsored by Dollar General, the evening of family priced motorsports entertainment includes three divisions of Legends Cars, three classes of Bandoleros, Thunder Roadsters and the wild-and-wacky CRASHCars.

While Green is a rookie in the Peach Auto Body Legends Car Pro division, he is no stranger to Summer Shootout title fights. The youngster captured to 2004 Lucas Oil Bandolero Young Guns championship and was a contender in the same division last season before trouble in the final two races relegated him to a 10th-place finish.

Interestingly, Green leads the Pro division standings with an "assist" from his father, who has more than 220 starts in the NASCAR Busch Series. Summer Shootout rules permit a one-race driver substitute and, when the younger Green had to be out of town during round three, the elder Green drove his son's No. 20 Legends Car to a seventh-place finish.

With three races remaining, Green holds a 23-point lead over Casey Roderick of Lawrenceville, Ga., and is 33 points ahead of Brennan Poole, who resides in Woodlands, Texas.

The Summer Shootout Series runs each Tuesday night through Aug. 8 on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Summer Shootout admission is just $5 for adults. Children 6-12 are admitted for $3 and kids under 6 are free. Tickets are available in advance at the speedway ticket office and at Gates 4 and 5 the night of the event. Parking is free.

Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with preliminary action at 5:30 p.m. Feature racing begins at 7:30 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude by 10:15. For information, call the speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS or visit www.charlottemotorspeedway.com.
