Kouri Joins Foundation's Advisory Panel
Chris Kouri, director of governmental relations and general counsel for Lowe's Motor Speedway, has been named to the 15-member state advisory panel of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.
Kouri will serve a three-year term. The advisory panel helps the Foundation better understand issues affecting North Carolina and opportunities for more effective grantmaking. It also helps identify major new initiatives of the Foundation.
As director of governmental relations and legal counsel for Lowe's Motor Speedway, Kouri oversees the track's day-to-day legal matters and works closely with government officials on matters that impact the motorsports industry.
He is co-chair of Mecklenburg County's Judicial Campaign Conduct Committee and serves on boards of the Public School Forum of North Carolina, the North Carolina Travel and Tourism Coalition, University City Partners, Charlotte Catholic Alumni Association and Southern Webbing Mills.
Kouri graduated from Yale University in 1992 and earned a law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000.
The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, headquartered in Winston-Salem, N.C., was established in 1936 as a memorial to the youngest child of R.J.
Reynolds and Katharine Smith Reynolds. During its history, it has made grants of more than $393 million to projects in all 100 counties in North Carolina. Although it makes grants to a wide range of projects, it now gives special attention to five focus areas-community economic development, the environment, democracy and civic engagement, pre-collegiate education and social justice and equity.
