Oct. 11 Bojangles' Pole Night Combines High-Speed Thrills with Short-Track Fun!
Bojangles' Pole Night on Thursday, Oct. 11, at Lowe's Motor Speedway will combine the high-speed thrills of NASACAR NEXTEL Cup Series qualifying with the slam, bam fun of short-track racing.
Following qualifying on the 1.5-mile superspeedway, action moves to the frontstretch quarter-mile oval for a School Bus Slobberknocker and a CRASHCar Trailer Race of Destruction. Robosaurus, the world's first "car-nivorous monster," will also be on hand to demonstrate its amazing car-crushing capabilities.
"Bojangles' Pole Night will be the most unique evening of motorsports entertainment we have ever presented," said H.A. "Humpy"
Wheeler, president and general manager of Lowe's Motor Speedway. "We'll go from the drama and intensity of qualifying for the Bank of America 500 to a short-track thrill show full of fun and destruction."
If purchased in advance, adult tickets for Bojangles' Pole Night are just $12 while admission is only $1 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for those 5 and younger.
The better of two laps will determine a driver's official qualifying speed for the Bank of America 500, round five of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup. Qualifying features a record $38,900 in posted awards with $23,900 earmarked for the pole winner.
Robosaurus stands 40 feet tall, weighs 60,000 pounds and can lift a 4,000-pound car higher than a five-story building. While breathing 20-foot flames, the machine's powerful jaws can rip apart an automobile using 24,000 pounds of metal-mashing force.
Measuring 30 feet long and tipping the scales at nearly 13 tons each, school buses will battle side-by-side and bumper-to-bumper on the
tight quarter-mile oval, often entering the turns three abreast. The
buses will be driven by an array of characters including legendary school bus racer Dirty Dan the Fan, Bam-Bam and Lug Nut, the world's fastest mascot.
"School bus racing is motorized mayhem at its finest," Wheeler noted.
The CRASHCar Trailer Race of Destruction features CRASHCars battling while towing a variety of campers, boats and utility trailers behind their brightly colored race cars. If a driver loses his trailer during the course of the race, he is eliminated from competition.
Each CRASHCar carries a cartoon-style theme and features brightly colored paint and graphics. Almost any full- or mid-sized convertible, coupe or sedan can be transformed into a CRASHCar. Trucks and sport utility vehicles, however, are not permitted.
Tickets for Bojangles' Pole Night can also be purchased as part of the four-race $99 SUPER Ticket which includes the Jani-King Southern Showdown World of Outlaws late model race at The Dirt Track on Wednesday night, Oct. 10; the Dollar General 300 NASCAR Busch Series race on Friday night, Oct 12; and the Bank of America 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event on Saturday night, Oct. 13.
Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the Lowe's Motor Speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS.
