Radio-Controlled Airplane Event Set For April 12 at Charlotte Motor Speedway
The skies over Lowe's Motor Speedway will be buzzing Saturday, April 12, when the Flying Aces Pilots' Association hosts its Spring Fly-In on the grounds of the motorsports facility.
Featuring many of the Southeast's top radio-controlled airplane pilots, the event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 75 miniature aircraft are expected to take to the sky, including vintage war birds and aerobatic planes. Don Stegall, chairman of RCPRO, will also present a sport-plane pylon racing demonstration.
Sanctioned by the Academy of Model Aeronautics, the event will take place in a specially designed "flying field" located in the parking areas behind the speedway's backstretch. There is a $10 landing fee for pilots
