Racing's Version of "The Fast and the Furriest"
Fur is sure to fly Tonight at Charlotte Motor Speedway during round eight of the 10-race Quaker Steak & Lube Summer Shootout Series as several area mascots compete in racing's version of "The Fast and the Furriest."
Lug Nut, the World's Fastest Mascot, will look to defend his home turf as the mascots battle in equally prepared go-karts provided by the Richard Petty Driving Experience.
Among those scheduled to join Lug Nut in the annual Mascot Mania Night race are: Sir Purr of the Carolina Panthers; Rufus Lynx of the Charlotte Bobcats; Chubby of the Charlotte Checkers; and Dub of the Kannapolis Intimidators. Gizzard Coop, Quaker Steak & Lube's chicken, will also be in attendance along with Lug Nut's seldom-seen girlfriend, Lugette.
In addition to racing on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval, the mascots will greet fans on the grandstand concourse prior to their event.
