20 Classic Cars from Johnny Foster's Collection Up for Bid during Sept. 4-7 Food Lion AutoFair
Lakeside Classics, of Denver, N.C., has selected 20 rare vehicles from the collection of longtime automotive aficionado Johnny Foster to be put up for bid Saturday, Sept. 6, during Tom Mack Classics' Auction @ AutoFair.
The auction is part of the Sept. 4-7 Food Lion AutoFair at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Foster's love for collecting cars started some 50 years ago when, at age 15, he began buying, selling and trading automobiles. Cars became Foster's hobby, life and business and, by the time of his death in July, he had amassed a collection of some 800 cars.
"Johnny's son, Wayne, recently told me, 'dad and I would say we need to sell some cars, so I would take two or three to a show and sell them, only to come home and find he had bought or traded for five more,'" said Tom Mack, owner of Tom Mack Classics. "We are proud that Wayne and his family have chosen us to sell some of their most rare and prized cars during Auction @ AutoFair."
Among the cars from Foster's collection scheduled to cross the auction block are a fully restored 1941 Packard 110 convertible; a 1948 Cadillac Fleetwood limousine; a 1964 Plymouth Fury convertible; a 1916 Dodge Brothers Touring Truck; a 1955 Ford Fairlane Sunliner convertible; a 1937 Ford Phaeton four-door convertible; a 1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II coupe; and a 1964 Pontiac GTO with three two-barrel carburetors.
Tom Mack Classics' Auction @ AutoFair is a two-day event that starts at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5. Selling resumes at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, and the cars from Foster's collection will be offered at approximately 2:45 p.m. The auction takes place in the garage area inside Turn 4 of the superspeedway.
More than 70 of the antique and classic vehicles that will be up for bid can be viewed online at www.tommackclassics.com.
