Brooke Tatnell and Scott Bloomquist visited Victory Lane Friday during the second night of the VAULT World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Tatnell, filling in for the injured Craig Dollansky, led all 30 laps of the Advance Auto Parts Sprint Car feature en route to his first win of the season. The Australia native took home $10,000 for the VAULT World Finals feature win.

"Craig (Dollansky) might not be in the car, but this win is yours," Tatnell said when he climbed from the No. 2 machine. "I am very fortunate that these guys have enough respect and belief in me to give us another shot at this.

"It was a little nerve wracking. My foot was a little slippery on the accelerator pedal there for a while. People laughed because I couldn't find Victory Lane, but it took me 12 months to find my way back here."

Still recovering from a fractured arm he sustained in a wreck at Eldora Speedway on Sept. 19, Dollansky joined Tatnell in Victory Lane to celebrate his team's win.

"It feels great to have my car in Victory Lane," Dollansky said. "I am so happy for Brooke and his family and our entire race team. It was a total team effort.

"I really wanted to see him get a win before the year was over. He's done a great job filling in for me."

Series points leader Donny Schatz closed in on Tatnell mid way through the race, but was unable to challenge for the lead and settled for a second-place finish. Terry McCarl, Steve Kinser and Cody Darrah rounded out the top five in the 26-car field.

The red flag waved on lap seven after Jason Sides and Lee Sowell got turned around in turn four. The race was also slowed by one additional caution period on lap 20 when Sam Hafertepe Jr. spun off turn two.

The eight-lap sprint car heat races were won by McCarl, Donny Schatz, Brooke Tatnell and Chad Kemenah.

Mark Smith topped the C main while Wayne Johnson led the field to the checkered flag in the B main. McCarl went wire-to-wire to win the Crane Cams Dash to earn the pole position in the feature.

Scott Bloomquist started the 50-lap World of Outlaws Late Model Series feature from the pole position and never looked back as he cruised to his fifth late model win at The Dirt Track @ Charlotte Motor Speedway. The $10,000 victory regained Bloomquist the win leader title in late model competition at the four-tenths-mile clay oval.

"The car was perfect tonight," Bloomquist said. "The engine ran terrific and that's about as good a handling car as I've ever sat in.

"This is just a great race track. You can race all over. No one's going to hold you up. If you're fast you're going to get to the front and that's what we love about it."

While Bloomquist checked out on the rest of the field, from second place on back the competition was tight. Shane Clanton ran solidly in the top five until mechanical problems ended his night on lap 23. Fast qualifier Jimmy Owens also ran as high as second before a broken rear end put him out of the race on lap 43.

Dale McDowell finished second and Shannon Babb took home third-place honors. Tim McCreadie started 20th and worked his way up to finish fourth, while Matt Miller rounded out the top five.

The late model feature was slowed by seven caution flags for a series of minor incidents.

Miller, Donnie Moran, Clanton, Babb, McDowell and Bloomquist won the 10-lap heat races for the late models.

Steve Shaver, McCreadie and Clint Smith topped the 12-lap late model B mains.

The VAULT World Finals concludes Saturday night with a full slate of racing for both divisions. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with opening ceremonies starting at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are just $35 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under.
