Franklin Graham to Deliver Inspirational Message and Invocation at 50th Coca-Cola 600
World-renowned evangelist and North Carolina-native Franklin Graham will deliver a 30-minute inspirational message and the invocation during pre-race festivities at the 50th running the Coca-Cola 600 on May 24 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Graham will address the crowd at 2:30 p.m. EDT from the stage located at the superspeedway's start-finish line and his message will be broadcast on the speedway's public address system. At approximately 5:45 p.m., just prior to the green flag, Graham will deliver the invocation before the singing of the "Star Spangled Banner."
"I'm excited to have the opportunity to speak to these race fans," said Graham, president and CEO of Samaritan's Purse. "I've been a race fan most of my life, so to have this chance to speak about God's love and to present the Gospel is a real privilege."
In addition to Graham's message and invocation during pre-race, he will also assist with Motor Racing Outreach's Sunday service to the drivers and team members in the garage.
"The Graham family has meant so much, not only to me and my family, but so many families throughout the world and especially in the Carolinas," said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. "To have Franklin Graham at Charlotte Motor Speedway delivering an inspirational message to the fans prior to the Coca-Cola 600 is truly going to be a special treat for everyone in attendance."
Graham has devoted his life to meeting the needs of people around the world and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The eldest son of Billy and Ruth Bell Graham, he serves as president and CEO of Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Under his leadership, Samaritan's Purse has met the needs of poor, sick and suffering people in more than 100 countries. As an evangelist for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, he has led festivals around the world.
