Mike Bliss Wins Rain Shortened CARQUEST Auto Parts 300
Mike Bliss, driver of the No. 1 Miccosukee Indian Gaming & Resort Chevrolet scored his second NASCAR Nationwide Series victory, Saturday night, in the rain shortened Carquest Auto Parts 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The race ended under caution after 170 laps of 200 scheduled laps were completed.
"We stole one tonight, but I don't care. We beat a car that has been winning too much lately," Bliss said after the race, "I had a little luck tonight. The car drove pretty well tonight, but at the end of a 30 lap run, it would get tight. The rain couldn't have come at a better time."
Brendan Gaughan, driver of the No. 62 for Rusty Wallace Racing, was the highest finishing rookie, and got his first top-ten finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway. "I don't know what happened or how we got it. The guys on pit road did a great job for us. Bryan Berry had great stops," Gaughan said in post-race interviews.
Kyle Busch finished third after a late race caution left only a few cars on the lead lap. The race included 12 lead changes among 7 drivers and had 5 cautions for 26 laps.
