Lowe¿s Motor Speedway is the best track in NASCAR Winston Cup racing according to a poll of NASCAR Winston Cup industry insiders conducted by veteran motorsports writer David Poole and published in the current issue of Athlon Sports.

Poole asked media members, public relations personnel, crew members and even NASCAR employees to rank each of the 21 tracks¿the new tracks near Chicago and Kansas City were not included¿based on 23 categories, ranging from amenities to convenience to competition.

Lowe¿s Motor Speedway was ranked best in four of the 23 categories and was among the top-three in 12.

¿Lowe¿s Motor Speedway wound up atop the overall list because it fared consistently well in several key categories¿,¿ Poole wrote. ¿The Charlotte track got its highest marks for how its events are promoted, for the ¿big event¿ feel surrounding its races and for pre-race and post-race entertainment. It also was at the top for its offerings of food and souvenirs.¿

¿Topping this poll is like winning a race,¿ said H.A. ¿Humpy¿ Wheeler, president and general manager of Lowe¿s Motor Speedway. ¿While it is pleasing to be recognized by those in our industry, it is also important for the fans to know we put even more effort into accommodating their needs during our events.¿
