Lowe¿s Motor Speedway officials announced a new television agreement today that will see the Summer Shootout Series, the track¿s 10-week slate of grassroots racing, televised on SPEED Channel.

¿For nine years, fans in the Southeast have tuned into our longtime partner Fox Sports Net South to watch the Summer Shootout,¿ said H.A. ¿Humpy¿ Wheeler, president and general manager of Lowe¿s Motor Speedway. ¿They have seen it evolve from a series of races featuring Charlotte-area Legends Car competitors into a motorsports variety show that weekly attracts nearly 200 competitors from across the country.

¿Now, SPEED Channel viewers across North America will be able to enjoy this entertaining motorsports series.¿

The SPEED Channel telecasts will follow a format developed last season. Each of the weekly Tuesday night events, featuring 600 Racing Legends Cars, Bandoleros, Thunder Roadsters, a One-on-One Celebrity Grudge Match and a weekly novelty race, will be taped. The events will be edited into a series of 10 one-hour programs that will air in a consistent prime-time slot this fall. Broadcast dates and times will be announced later.

The 10th anniversary season of the Summer Shootout Series opens Tuesday night, June 10, and runs through Aug. 12.
