Sanford, the 115th governor of South Carolina, will serve as Grand Marshal for the 44th running of stock car racing¿s Memorial Day Weekend classic. Sanford will preside over pre-race ceremonies, welcoming fans and competitors to the Southeast¿s largest sporting event.
Lt. Governor Perdue, a former school teacher and health care professional, will serve as the Honorary Starter for stock car racing¿s longest event. She will greet drivers during pre-race introductions and then wave the green flag to send the 43-car starting field on its 600-mile journey.
