He¿s not billing himself as the latest version of ¿The Bachelor,¿ or ¿Joe Millionaire,¿ but Dan Robbins is single and willing to share his passion for NASCAR Winston Cup Series racing at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway this month.

The 38-year-old truck driver from Des Moines, Iowa, has a spare ticket for the May 25 Coca-Cola 600 and decided to use a unique marketing plan to tell the world about it. He bought an ad in a national trade publication that covers NASCAR Winston Cup racing.

His ad copy reads:

¿Free Coke 600 ticket for single female. Looking for someone to hang out with and have a good time. Call Dan at (515) 480-2807.¿

¿Normally I meet my brother, who lives in Virginia, for the race. But he is on military assignment in Korea,¿ said Robbins. ¿I was hoping to meet someone I could hang out with Saturday and Sunday. Since I am flying in, I would love to find someone who could bring a grill and cooler¿stuff my brother usually brought that I can¿t bring on a plane.¿

This is Robbins¿ fifth year coming to Charlotte for the races. What prompted him to use a national ad campaign to find a race mate?

¿I¿m not sure what made me think of it, but I read the classifieds in NASCAR Winston Cup Scene,¿ Robbins said. ¿They have a section titled ¿Tickets for Sale,¿ so I thought this would be a great way to advertise my extra ticket. I thought it might be easier and more enjoyable than finding a guy to hang out with.¿

The Charlotte Observer, a major, local daily that serves the speedway area, turned down his ad request as they considered it a ¿singles ad,¿ which they don¿t run.

Never married and a non-smoker, Robbins¿ hobbies include NASCAR, exercising and racing simulators at the local NASCAR Silicon Speedway.

¿The ideal woman would be an Earnhardt fan, but it¿s not a deal breaker!¿ he said.

What other qualities is he looking for in race mate?

Someone who is age 21 to 35, with no hair color preference and someone to join him for an enjoyable weekend. He would be happy to educate a novice fan about racing, so previous experience is not necessary.

However, if Miss Winston wants the ticket, we¿ll definitely talk,¿ Robbins joked.

¿I fly in on Wednesday (May 21) of race week, so we could go sightseeing around Charlotte, visit race shops, go to Food Lion Speed Street and then tailgate at the track and watch some great racing.¿

Robbins says the person has nothing to lose. It¿s all in fun.

¿There¿s no obligation for a long-term relationship or romance,¿ he said. ¿I¿m going into this with an open mind. Anything is possible.¿

For those not interested in Robbins¿ offer, tickets for the May 25 Coca-Cola 600 are still available and can be obtained online at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com or by calling 1-800-455-FANS.
