Fur is expected to fly Tuesday as Lowe¿s Motor Speedway hosts ¿The Fast and the Furriest 2,¿ a wild night of Mascot Madness, during round seven of the 10-week Summer Shootout Series.

Hosted by Lug Nut, the world¿s fastest mascot, ¿The Fast and the Furriest 2¿ will see several representatives from area sports teams and civic organizations entertain fans and then compete in a unique novelty race, the details of which will be kept secret until race time.

Among the mascots scheduled to battle Lug Nut are Dub of the Kannapolis Intimidators, Scout of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff¿s department, Norm of the Charlotte 49ers and Lugette, Lug Nut¿s longtime girlfriend.

The Domino¿s Pizza Ball Toss, where fans can win tickets to the Oct. 11 UAW-GM Quality 500 NASCAR Winston Cup event, is also on the schedule. For a $1 donation to Speedway Children¿s Charities, fans can obtain a tennis ball with an identifying number. Following the mascot race, a Lowe¿s Motor Speedway Chevrolet pace truck with a trash can in the back will move slowly down the track¿s front straightaway. Any fan in the grandstand throwing his or her ball into the trash can wins two tickets to the UAW-GM Quality 500.

A full slate of Legends Car, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster racing rounds out the schedule of activities as nearly 170 race cars are expected to pack the pit area.
