Body shop owners will be standing by with anticipation and insurance agents will be biting their fingernails Tuesday night as One-on-One Spectator Races return for round eight of the 10-week Summer Shootout Series at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway.

For the second time this season, spectators move from the grandstand to the race track. They will drive their street-legal personal vehicles in a series of single-elimination races on the paved quarter-mile oval.

All makes and models of automobiles are eligible and previous challengers have included a Boss Ford Mustang, an all-wheel-drive Eagle Talon and a Pontiac Firebird.

But the vehicle everyone will be gunning for is Donald Bond¿s GMC Syclone pick-up truck. The Wadesboro, N.C., driver has easily won the last three One-on-One Spectator Races, dating back to last season, and is a heavy favorite to put another check in the win column.

Competitors in the One-on-One Spectator Races must pre-enter by contacting the Lowe¿s Motor Speedway Events department at (704) 455-3205.

A full slate of Legends Car, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster racing is also on tap with more than 160 cars expected to fill the pit area.

Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with preliminary action starting at 5:30 p.m. Feature racing begins at 7:30 p.m. and will conclude by 10:15.

Admission is just $5 for adults. Children 6-12 are admitted for $3 with kids under six free. Tickets are available in advance at the speedway ticket office and at Gates 4 and 5A the night of the event. Parking is free.

Contact the speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS for information or to purchase tickets.
