Nov. 1 Briggs & Stratton 300 Highlights NAKC
The 300-lap event on Lowe¿s Motor Speedway¿s frontstretch quarter-mile oval is part of the World Karting Association¿s 10th annual North American Karting Championship. The four-day event begins Thursday, Oct. 30, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 2. It also includes the 29th annual Horstman Gold Cup Series GT Machine Grand Nationals on the serpentine infield sprint track and the 10th annual Dunlop Tire National Road Racing Series Championships on the 2.25-mile road course.
Parnell earned the pole for last year¿s Briggs & Stratton 300 by topping 107 drivers who attempted to qualify for the 40-kart field and dominated the early stages of the 300-lap run. Parnell was a full lap ahead of his closest rival with just 100 laps remaining when he left the pit area without a gas cap following his final fuel stop on lap 239, handing the victory to Justin Hill of Sandy Ridge, N.C.
In addition to the Briggs & Stratton 300, the Dunlop Tire National Road Racing Series will crown 41 class champions during two days of racing with speeds approaching 135 mph. Twenty championships will also be decided during the Hortsman Gold Cup Series GT Machine Grand Nationals. Racing for both series begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, and Sunday, Nov. 2.
Grandstand tickets for the Briggs & Stratton 300 on Saturday evening, Nov. 1, are just $5 for adults with children under 6 admitted free. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with pre-race entertainment starting at 6:15 p.m. The green flag on the 300-lap race is slated for 7 p.m. Pit admission is available for the remainder of the weekend events.
