A pit stop for fresh tires prior to the final segment propelled Matt Kenseth to victory in the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The victory was worth $1,044,000.

Ryan Newman, who did not pit for tires, settled for second followed by Tony Stewart, Michael Waltrip and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Newman topped the first 40-lap segment with Stewart leading at the end of 30 laps in segment two.

Early in segment one, Kurt Busch bumped teammate Greg Biffle on the front straightaway, triggering a multi-car accident that forced officials to unfurl the red flag.
