Scott Morgan, Roger Moser and Jonathan Brown celebrated Independence Day a little early Thursday night, posting victories in the Domino¿s Pizza Grassroots Nationals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe¿s Motor Speedway.

Morgan started from the pole in the 20-lap feature for the Stock 4-Cylinder stock cars and was never seriously challenged en route to the $1,000 victory.

¿I love this race track,¿ said the Easley, S.C., driver. ¿We had back luck here last year, but we made up for it tonight. We had a really good car.¿

Shannon Barnhill started sixth in the 24-car field and was up to second by the third trip around the four-tenths mile clay oval. But the Shelby, N.C., driver was no match for Morgan and settled for runner-up honors in a race slowed by only one caution flag.

Timothy Smith charged from the 12th starting spot to take third with Stacy Brock and Joey Wiley rounding out the top five.

The eight-lap heat races for the Stock 4-Cylinders were won by Morgan, Wiley, Brock, Dustin Sweat and Barnhill. Donnie Austin, Greg Haynes and Greg Barker drove to victory in the eight-lap last chance races.

Moser, who made the long tow from Auxvasse, Mo., emerged from a torrid three-car battle to win the 20-lap IMCA modified feature.

With two laps remaining, Moser was third behind Dave Hammond and Brett Wilson with the trio often battling three abreast. Moser waited until the last lap to make his move, passing both Hammond and Wilson at the same time.

¿I had to earn that one,¿ said Moser, who collected $500 for his efforts. ¿I had to get up on the wheel those last couple of laps. They slipped just a little bit and we got ¿em.¿

Wilson settled for second with Hammond, who led the most laps, claiming show honors. Kenny Gwyn and Shawn Martin completed the top five in the 24-car field.

Wilson, Junior Daniels and Moser topped the eight-lap heat races for the IMCA modifieds.

Brown, a resident of Winston-Salem, N.C., took home $1,000 for winning the Demolition Derby. Brown was driving a car nicknamed the Dixie Express.

Patriotic music accompanied the giant fireworks show that concluded the program.
