While purely coincidental, it is fitting that just days after speed cameras debuted on Charlotte city streets, One-on-One Spectator Races return to the Hardee¿s Summer Shootout Tuesday night at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway.

Charlotte drivers are being encouraged to proceed with caution because if a speed camera catches them exceeding the posted limit, they will receive a $50 ticket.

There will be no such worries Tuesday night as drivers participating in the One-on-One Spectator Races presented by Critter Control will be encouraged to put the pedal to the metal in order to take home the four-foot-tall winner¿s trophy.

All makes and models of street-legal automobiles are eligible to compete in the One-on-One Spectator Races which feature a single-elimination format. An Eagle Talon, an Audi Quattro, a Subaru WRX, a Pontiac Grand-Am, a Ford Mustang and a GMC Syclone pick-up truck are among the vehicles that have excelled in previous events.

Competitors in the One-on-One Spectator Races presented by Critter Control must pre-enter by contacting the Lowe¿s Motor Speedway events department at (704) 455-3205.

A full slate of Legends Car, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster racing is also on tap with nearly 160 race cars expected to jam the pit area. Double points will be on the line with all seven championships still up for grabs.

The 10-week Hardee¿s Summer Shootout concludes Tuesday night, Aug. 17.

Admission is just $5 for adults. Children 6-12 are admitted for $3 and kids under 6 are free. Parking is free. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with preliminary action starting at 5:25. Feature racing begins at 7:30 p.m. and will conclude by 10:15.
