J.J. Yeley Enters Oct. 13 Mopar Sprint Car Nationals
Yeley, the 2003 USAC Valvoline Sprint Car Series champion, is scheduled to drive the No. 75 sprint car owned by noted Mopar engine builder Gary Stanton.
Yeley, a second-generation racer from Phoenix, Ariz., became only the second driver to win the USAC Triple Crown, earning the Silver Crown, sprint car and midget titles in the same season. Driving for Tony Stewart Racing in 2003, Yeley won an unprecedented 24 USAC National Series events, breaking a record set in 1961 by A.J. Foyt.
Yeley has made only sporadic sprint car appearances this season while focusing on his stock car effort. He has driven a Joe Gibbs Racing entry in 14 NASCAR Busch Series events and made one NEXTEL Cup Series start.
The Mopar Sprint Car Nationals, which also includes the late model stock cars of the O¿Reilly Southern All Star Racing Series, kicks off four nights of racing that concludes with the UAW-GM Quality 500, round five of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, on Saturday night, Oct. 16, at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway.
