Aaron's 99 ASA Results
Thursday, October 14, 2004
Reed Sorenson seemed to have it all. He had won the 2003 ASA National Tour Rookie of the Year award. He had a contract with Chip Ganassi Racing. He had a ride in the NASCAR Busch Series next year. The one thing he didn¿t have was a win in the ASA.
That changed with the running of the Aaron¿s 99 presented by Jani-King under the lights at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway as Sorenson took the checkered flag in his 38th career start.
Sorenson took the lead on lap 51 of the 66-lap (99 mile) event. He dropped inside of Bryan Reffner on a restart and from there it was clear sailing in his No. 29 Target Dodge.
¿We got a good run on that restart and were able to get through (Turns) 1 and 2 without any trouble and made the pass on him (Reffner),¿ Sorenson said. ¿It¿s pretty neat to come back here under the lights and win this race.¿ It was this pass for the lead that gave him the Cool Shirt ¿Cool Move of the Race¿ award.
Sorenson becomes the tenth different winner on the ASA National Tour this season, and the third driver to capture their first career victory.
