NASCAR NEXTEL Media Tour Jan. 24-27
The largest off-season media event in NASCAR NEXTEL Cup racing, the 22nd edition of this annual season preview begins Monday afternoon, Jan. 24, and continues through Thursday afternoon, Jan. 27.
With support from new sponsors Nextel and NASCAR, the Media Tour gives registered participants the opportunity to tour race shops; meet with drivers, crew chiefs and team owners; and discuss the latest developments and news with motorsports industry leaders.
"The NASCAR NEXTEL Media Tour is as important to media members as pre-season testing is to the race teams," said H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, who as president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway has nurtured the tour from its infancy. ¿This is always an exciting time of year for our sport as drivers and teams prepare for the new season. The Media Tour gives journalists the opportunity to showcase that excitement to fans around the world."
Journalists from New York, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Atlanta, Baltimore, Kansas City, Milwaukee and Tampa are among those registered to participate, representing such media outlets as TV Guide, Associated Press, Reuters and The Miami Herald along with the Fox and NBC television networks.
MB2/MB-Sutton Motorsports, Haas CNC Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, Evernham Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing, Petty Enterprises, Wood Brothers Racing, Robert Yates Racing, Dale Earnhardt, Inc., Penske Racing, Roush Racing, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates and Hendrick Motorsports are among the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup teams scheduled to host NASCAR NEXTEL Media Tour events.
The Media Tour will also make its annual visit to the NASCAR R&D Center where sanctioning body executives will preview the season and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will host a dinner to kick off its 10th Anniversary.
