Nearly 15,000 cars encompassing the spectrum of automotive history will be on display-or on the market-at Charlotte Motor Speedway during 2005 as the track hosts three of the nation's largest car shows.

The car show schedule opens April 7-10 with the spring version of Food Lion AutoFair, a four-day automotive extravaganza that annually attracts more than 160,000 people.

The event includes a car show featuring various makes and models from some 50 clubs; more than 7,000 vendor spaces that offer a plethora of automotive parts and memorabilia; and a collector car auction conducted by Tom Mack. A car corral, which completely circles the legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway, includes nearly 1,500 vehicles of all makes and models that are available for sale or trade.

The fall version of the Food Lion AutoFair, featuring the same format as the spring show, is on tap Sept. 15-18.

The car show schedule concludes Oct. 28-30 when the California-based Goodguys organization brings more than 3,000 pre-1972 hot rods, street rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and trucks to Charlotte Motor Speedway from across the country.

Also included in the weekend-the fastest growing show on the Goodguys calendar-is a manufacturer's midway, model car and pedal car show and a chance to ride around the famous 1.5-mile oval at 130-plus miles per hour in the passenger seat of an authentic NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race car. This event also includes a "Cruise under the Lights," where more than 1,000 hot rods and customs take to the 1.5-mile superspeedway for several laps.
