Double points will be on the line Tuesday night when The Gardens of Taylor Glen presents the penultimate round of the 10-race Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

And with title contenders in three of the seven divisions separated by less than 10 points, the action-packed evening of Legends Car, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster racing promises to play a pivotal role in deciding who claims the prestigious Summer Shootout championships.

The closest point battle is in the National Guard Legends Car Semi-Pro division where Matt Bowers, of Mt. Dora, Fla., leads fellow Floridian Paddy Rodenbeck by a single point. Rodenbeck is a two-time feature winner while Bowers has been extremely consistent, finishing between third and sixth in each of the eight races.

The Lucas Oil Bandolero Bandits division features racers ages 8 to 11 years old and just three points separate championship leader Cody Blackburn, of Stanley, N.C., and second-place Ronnie Bassett Jr., of Winston-Salem, N.C. The other single-digit title fight is the Peach Auto Body Legends Car Pro division where Casey Roderick, of Lawrenceville, Ga., leads Tyler Green, of Concord, N.C., by nine points.

In addition to the seven regular divisions, the wild-and-wacky CRASHCars will make their final Summer Shootout appearance of the season Tuesday night.

Summer Shootout runs each Tuesday night through Aug. 8 on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Adult admission is just $5 while children 6-12 are admitted for $3 and kids under 6 are free. Tickets are available in advance at the speedway ticket office and at Gates 4 and 5 the night of the event. Parking is free.
