Twin Oaks Smokin' Crew Declared Grand Champion of Prilosec OTC BBQ Shootout
Twin Oaks Smokin' Crew won Grand Champion of the Prilosec OTCR BBQ Shootout Series event at Lowe's Motor Speedway during the Coca-Cola 600 Weekend.
The Twin Oaks Smokin' Crew, a four-person group led by Stillwater, Okla., resident Bart Clark, beat out 12 other teams from across the country to win the third installment of the Prilosec OTCR BBQ Shootout Series.
Judged by the Kansas City Barbeque Society for the invitation-only competition, the Twin Oaks crew also took first place in both the chicken and brisket categories.
"It's just unbelievable," said Clark. "It's hard to believe that wewon with that many great cooks there.
"It was a thrill to get to meet Jeff Burton, too. I've followed his career for 14 years. We really enjoyed staying for the races as well."
The Twin Oaks Smokin' Crew has competed for 15 years and was named Team of the Year twice by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. Other category winners included Checkered Pig for best ribs and It
Ain't Prime for best pork. The Twin Oaks Smokin' Crew took home $5,300 for their efforts and a total of $15,000 was awarded during the competition.
SPEED Channel filmed the event for national television broadcast at a later date.
