To kick off the celebration of the nation's 233rd birthday, Charlotte Motor Speedway will host Harrisburg Fireworks Night as part of round four of the Summer Shootout Series on Tuesday.

The giant fireworks extravaganza will follow an evening of racing action that includes a full docket of Legends Car and Bandolero racing along with the CRASHCar Trailer Race of Destruction.

The wild and crazy Trailer Race of Destruction will feature the CRASHCars battling with a variety of items, such as boats, campers and utility trailers in tow behind their uniquely decorated racing machines.

The pyrotechnics are scheduled to light up the sky following the night's racing action at approximately 9:45 p.m.

The Summer Shootout Series features drivers from 8-year-old youngsters to Social Security recipients. NASCAR stars Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kyle Busch, David Ragan, Reed Sorenson and Joey Logano are among those who honed their skills in the 10-week series that runs every Tuesday night through August.

Nearly 200 cars jam the Summer Shootout Series pit area each week as two classes of Bandoleros and four divisions of Legends Cars battle on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval.

Summer Shootout Series admission is just $7 for adults. Children 6-12 are admitted for $3 and kids under 6 are free. Tickets for the Summer Shootout Series are available in advance at the speedway ticket office and at Gates 4 and 5 the night of the event.

Parking is free. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with preliminary action at 5:25 p.m. Feature racing begins at 7:30 p.m. with the Fireworks Extravaganza following at approximately 9:45 p.m.
