Fan Appreciation Night and CRASHCar Craziness Add Excitement to the Summer Shootout Series
As a "thank you" to all the loyal fans who attend Summer Shootout, Charlotte Motor Speedway will host Fan Appreciation Night tomorrow evening. Hot dogs will be just $1, discounted souvenirs will be available and the first 500 people through the gates will receive a free gift.
In addition to Fan Appreciation Night, CRASHCars, the unique entry-level racing machines inspired by "CARS" movie creator John Lasseter, return for round six of the 10-race Summer Shootout Series.
Virtually any full- or mid-sized convertible, coupe or sedan can be transformed into a CRASHCar. Station wagons, limousines, Checker Cabs, El Caminos and even hearses are eligible while trucks and sport utility vehicles are not permitted.
Each CRASHCar must have a cartoon-style theme and feature brightly colored paint and graphics. The CRASHCar rulebook is designed to maximize safety while minimizing costs. In addition to the CRASHCar race, the 16th annual Summer Shootout Series, which runs each Tuesday night through Aug. 11, features two classes of Bandolero racing and four divisions of Legends Cars.
Summer Shootout Series admission is just $7 for adults. Children 6-12 are admitted for $3 and kids under 6 are free. Tickets are available in advance at the speedway ticket office and at Gates 4 and 5 the night of the event.
Parking is free. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. Preliminary action begins at 5:25 p.m. with feature racing at 7:30 p.m.
