Summer Shootout goes into Overdrive
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Summer Shootout Series, Charlotte Motor Speedway has added one more night of spectacular racing action. Summer Shootout Overdrive will be a double purse, non-Shootout points event held tomorrow evening.
"This has been a great year for us," said Seamus Curley, Summer Shootout race director and manger of short track racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway. "With Summer Shootout attendance up, we wanted to give fans one more chance to enjoy an exciting night of short-track racing and tomorrow is sure to be a spectacular show."
In addition to Legends Car and Bandolero action, school bus racing is slated to return for the final time this season.
Measuring 30 feet long, 112 inches tall and tipping the scales at nearly 13 tons each, the weight of a single school bus is equivalent to the total weight of 24 Legends Cars.
These enormous racing buses will battle side-by-side and bumper-to-bumper on the tight quarter-mile oval, often entering the turns three wide. These six-tire machines are some of the most unique vehicles to compete on Charlotte Motor Speedway's pavement.
Tickets are available in advance at the speedway ticket office and at Gates 4 and 5 the night of the event. Parking is free. Admission is just $7 for adults. Children 6-12 are admitted for $3 and kids under 6 are free.
Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with heat racing at 5:25 p.m. Feature action begins at 7:30 p.m.
