Mike Jones has been named Charlotte Motor Speedway's 2009 Salesperson of the Year.

Jones, a Charlotte native who now resides in Concord, earned this prestigious award after securing numerous accounts for the 2009 and 2010 race seasons.

A 1973 graduate of West Mecklenburg High School, Jones came to Charlotte Motor Speedway seven years ago. Mike joined the corporate sales staff in 2003 after an impressive 29 years with NAPA Auto Parts.

Jones's 2009 efforts included implementing a multi-year sponsorship with Aaron's Inc. and securing a marketing promotional platform for zMAX Dragway with Verizon Wireless. He attributes his success to placing an emphasis on maintaining the current client basis, while still building relationships with potential partners.

"Mike works hard for his clients, ensuring they get the most value out of their marketing dollars spent with the company," said Dan Farrell, Charlotte Motor Speedway's senior vice president of corporate sales.

"His tenacious attitude and work ethic is attributed to his never-quit outlook. These qualities have earned him the nickname of ‘Bulldog.'  He has a passion for both the speedway and his customers. Mike is constantly looking to provide the best experience and value for all his partners whether big or small."

Jones will celebrate his award with his wife, Tina, at the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship Week in Las Vegas. The trip was given by the Speedway as a thank you for his contributions.
