Brookwood Farms Fires their Pits for Race Fans as the Official BBQ of Charlotte Motor Speedway
Officials with Brookwood Farms Inc. are pleased to announce a new partnership with Charlotte Motor Speedway to become the official barbecue of the legendary sports entertainment venue, from 2013 to 2015.
“Barbecue and NASCAR racing have a few things in common---loyal fans, the South and they are both enjoyed better with an ice-cold Coca-Cola,” said Craig Wood, vice president of Brookwood.
“We are an All-American family owned-and-operated company. Why not partner with one of the most-watched All-American sports? We are proud to bring our pit-cooked barbecue from our pits to thousands of race fans at Charlotte Motor Speedway.”
The three-year contract will bring Brookwood Farms pit-cooked barbecue from Siler City, N.C., to the speedway for the 10 Greatest Days in Racing including the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600 race weekends in May. In addition, Brookwood Farms will be the official barbecue of zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
“This is a partnership of two North Carolina-based companies that have been recognized for being the very best in their respective fields for decades,” said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. “Charlotte Motor Speedway produces the biggest back-to-back weekends in motorsports entertainment each May, and Brookwood Farms has been producing delicious pit-cooked barbecue for generations. Race fans are going to love this combination in May at Charlotte!”
Brookwood Farms is the nation’s sole provider of authentic pit-cooked barbecue to the foodservice industry and offers a complete line of pork, beef and poultry barbecue products. Beginning at 4 p.m. each workday, more than one ton of real charcoal briquettes are lit for the overnight slow-roasting of beef, pork and chicken. The process ends the next day as the products are pulled or shredded, sauces are added and packaged for delivery to customers. Brookwood Farms produces more than 200,000 pounds of barbecue each week.
“Our production team works hard to produce the best pit-cooked barbecue we can offer, and what better place to have barbecue than at a race where fans expect great food to go along with high-speed entertainment,” stated Twig Wood, president of Brookwood Farms.
The Brookwood Farms kiosk and concession area, located on the frontstretch concourse behind the Chrysler Grandstand, will sell pulled pork and brisket sandwiches during Charlotte Motor Speedway’s May NASCAR race events. Brookwood Farms barbecue can also be found in the deli meat section of grocery stores such as Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Lowe’s Foods, Kroger, BI-LO and select Wal-Mart stores across the Carolinas and Virginia.
