Charlotte Motor Speedway Ready for May Race Weekends with New Amenities and Offers
Charlotte Motor Speedway is gearing up for a thrilling month of racing in May headlined by the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on May 22 and the Coca-Cola 600 on May 30. Here are just some of the new amenities, ticket offers and exciting happenings going on at the speedway ahead of all the racing action:
Coca-Cola and Bumble Bee Donate Tickets to Troops
The Let the Troops Race program for the Coca-Cola 600 continues to draw huge support from individuals, small businesses and large companies. The latest national firms to purchase tickets for the troops include Coca-Cola, Bumble Bee Tuna and BAE Systems. Let the Troops Race gives individuals and companies the chance to purchase tickets for just $20 to send a member of the U.S. armed forces to the Memorial Day Weekend race. For their purchase, fans receive recognition on the Charlotte Motor Speedway website and on Sprint Vision screens at the speedway during the race weekend. Fans will also receive a voucher for a free Coca-Cola at the track. Companies will receive the same acknowledgement as fans, plus inclusion in a 30-second recognition spot on the Sprint Vision screens which will play at the speedway during Coca-Cola 600 Race Weekend. The Let the Troops Race program runs through May 22.
Papa John’s and Coca-Cola Offers Fans VIP Experience with Ticket Package
Race fans who love pizza will get a double treat as Papa John’s is offering fans a chance to have a VIP experience at the Coca-Cola 600 with the Papa John’s Pizza Party at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Papa John’s pizza boxes throughout the Carolinas and in Virginia will include an offer for a pizza party race package for $59. With the package, up to 1,000 fans will get a frontstretch ticket for the May 30 Coca-Cola 600 and a pre-race tour of the pits. Fans will also get exclusive access to a VIP party that includes a question and answer session with Papa John himself, company founder John Schnatter, as well as Coca-Cola Racing Family driver Clint Bowyer and his car owner Richard Childress. At the party, fans will be treated to Papa John’s pizza, Coca-Cola drinks and a goody bag with gifts from Papa John’s, Coca-Cola and Charlotte Motor Speedway. The promotion will run through mid-May. NASCAR Night at zMAX Dragway May 12
NASCAR Night returns to zMAX Dragway on May 12. Fans are invited to come out and see NASCAR drivers, including Kurt Busch, as well as owners, crew chiefs and team members as they compete on the concrete quarter mile at the Bellagio of drag strips. Fans can show a ticket to the upcoming NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race or Coca-Cola 600 and receive free admission. Adult tickets are available at the gate for just $5 and kids are free. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Speedway Children's Charities. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and racing begins at 5 p.m.
Designated Smoking Areas Presented by Native Debut for May Races
Charlotte Motor Speedway is introducing new designated smoking areas at the track, presented by Native Trading Associates. The new areas are located throughout the speedway and are equipped with televisions so fans don’t miss a minute of the race. Native and Herr’s Potato Chips will hand out samples and coupons to fans who use the designated smoking areas, which are located adjacent to the concourses in the Toyota Fourth Turn Terrace, Chrysler, General Motors, Ford and Diamond Tower seating areas. Native is also sponsoring a smoking lounge area in the infield, where they will hand out coupons and samples. Fans can watch the race on TVs in the area, which is located just inside the Gate 26 tunnel. Unilever will sponsor an interactive tailgating display area adjacent to the smoking lounge so fans can play games as well.
Speedway Club Chef Rosen Wins Award
The Speedway Club Chef, Michael Rosen, was awarded the American Culinary Federation, Inc. Southeast Region Chef Professionalism award at the 2010 ACF Southeast Regional Conference held in Birmingham, Ala., April 24-26. Rosen is a Certified Executive Chef and serves as the executive chef at The Speedway Club at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He is responsible for all kitchen operations of the dining room and banquet facilities. As a regional winner, Rosen will compete for a national title against his counterparts at the 2010 ACF National Convention in Anaheim, Calif., Aug. 2-5. During May Race Weeks at Charlotte Motor Speedway, The Speedway Club will serve more than 28,000 meals.
