Driver Appearances, Pre-Race Music and Entertainment All Part of Bank of America 500 Week
Charlotte Motor Speedway continues to gear up for Bank of America 500 Week, Oct. 10-13, with the addition of The King and current NASCAR driver appearances, lots of pre-race music and fan fun. Below is a listing of some of the fan activities taking place during the Bank of America 500 Week.
Richard Petty, Denny Hamlin and Marcos Ambrose Greet Fans at Bank of America 500 Pit Party
NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Denny Hamlin and Marcos Ambrose, who is currently third in the points standings, will visit with fans and answer questions during the Bank of America 500 Pit Party. WKKT radio’s Paul Schadt will serve as emcee for the Pit Party. Other celebrities scheduled to appear include SPEED TV personalities Jimmy Spencer and Danielle Trotta, as well as nationally syndicated radio personalities John Boy & Billy from The Big Show. The Pit Party will be a fan-friendly event taking place in the NASCAR Nationwide Series garage from 2-5 p.m. Fans who upgrade their race tickets with a pit pass will also enjoy live music, concessions, racing displays and more at the Pit Party.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Take Over Speedway
Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are set to invade Charlotte Motor Speedway as NASCAR’s best return home for the Bank of America 500, the only Saturday night race in the Chase. The Ninja Turtles will make special appearances in the POWERADE Play Zone and the Ford Family Grandstands, greeting fans and posing for photos. The fearsome foursome will be joined by Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice, who will perform a free concert as part of the Bank of America 500 Pre-Race Show presented by Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In addition to appearances by the Ninja Turtles and the concert, the Bank of America 500 Pre-Race Show will include a death-defying stunt by world-famous tightrope walker Nik Wallenda. The seventh-generation high wire performer will walk the distance of more than two and a half football fields, at times almost 100 feet in the air, from the grandstands to Winner’s Circle.
Big & Rich to Rock Pre-Race with Concert
Charlotte Motor Speedway is set to get even louder when country rockers Big & Rich “crank it up to eleven” at the Bank of America 500 Pre-Race Show presented by Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Saturday, Oct. 13, as part of a thrilling week of speed, danger and fun. Fans will have an opportunity to jam with the guitar-slinging, country-singing, multi-platinum selling duo, Big & Rich, as they get the speedway rocking with songs of the past and present, including those from their new album Hillbilly Jedi, set for release on Sept. 18 on Warner Bros. Records. The concert will take place on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 13, on the main stage of Charlotte Motor Speedway’s frontstretch, just before the Bank of America 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
Ladies of NASCAR Take to the Track For Second Annual Better Half Dash
Some of NASCAR’s biggest names will become spectators (and crew chiefs) as the second annual Better Half Dash returns during Bojangles’ Pole Night on Oct. 11. The women of NASCAR will take center stage in the 25-lap Bandolero charity race to support Motor Racing Outreach and Speedway Children’s Charities. Competitors include Ashley Allgaier, wife of NASCAR driver Justin Allgaier; Jacquelyn Butler, fiancée of NASCAR driver David Ragan; Katrina Childers, wife of NASCAR crew chief Rodney Childers; Angie Dillner, wife of SPEED Channel’s Bob Dillner; Patricia Driscoll, girlfriend of NASCAR driver Kurt Busch; Michelle Gilliland, wife of NASCAR driver David Gilliland; Amy Gordon, wife of NASCAR crew chief Todd Gordon; Lyn-z Adams Hawkins Pastrana, wife of NASCAR driver Travis Pastrana; Adriene Pattie, wife of NASCAR crew chief Brian Pattie; Melanie Self, representing Motor Racing Outreach; Wendy Venturini, motorsports analyst for SPEED Channel; and Kristen Yeley, wife of NASCAR driver JJ Yeley. While the women take the wheel, their significant others will serve as coach and crew chief.
Commemorative Pole Night Tickets Honor Three-Time Bank of America 500 Winners
Fans interested in attending Bojangles’ Pole Night at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Oct. 11 can now purchase a limited-edition collectible ticket featuring four of NASCAR’s greatest racers. The ticket, of which only 2,500 were printed, pays homage to NASCAR Hall of Famers Bobby Allison and Cale Yarborough and future Hall of Famers Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin. All four NASCAR icons are three-time winners of the Bank of America 500, which is scheduled for Oct. 13. Tickets are just $20.
Scanners, FanViews Available for Rent to Enhance Race Experience
Fans can add more fun to race day with a FanView or scanner. The FanView is the ultimate race day companion, giving fans pre-set in-car audio channels and audio replays on demand, as well as real-time race and driver statistics. A Racing Electronics scanner lets fans listen to their favorite drivers and crews communicate, and the Performance Racing Network broadcast, during the race. FanViews and Racing Electronics scanners can be rented by going online to www.charlottemotorspeedway.com or in the ticket office during Bank of America 500 Week, Oct. 11-13.
