In its continuing effort to put Fans First, Charlotte Motor Speedway is giving families with young children a new, exciting entertainment option when they come to the track with the launch of the Powerade Play Zone.

Located in the Smith Tower south parking lot near the main speedway entrance, the Powerade Play Zone will feature racing-themed inflatable slides, obstacle courses, bounce houses and face painters. There will also be interactive displays, like the Lowe’s Build-A-Car Clinic and the Lego Build Zone, where children can play, build and learn.

Children can also play inside a monster truck inflatable and then see the real thing, as a Toyota monster truck will be on display for picture opportunities.

There will be a family picnic and seating area and kid-friendly concession stands for meal or break time.

The Powerade Play Zone will be open for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600 weekends. Open times are as follows:

NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race

  • Friday, May 21: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 22: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Coca-Cola 600

  • Thursday, May 27: 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, May 28: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 29: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 30: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Special guests will visit the Powerade Play Zone throughout the race weekends. Total Nonstop Action Wrestling stars Jeff Hardy and Shannon Moore will hold an autograph session on May 22 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Also Lug Nut, the official mascot of Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Fox Sports mascot Digger the gopher will make guest appearances as well.   • May 21: 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.
  • May 22: 4:15 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • May 27: 5:00 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.
  • May 29: 12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.
  • May 30: 3 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Digger Appearances

  • May 21: 4:30 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
  • May 22: 4:15 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • May 27: 5:45 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • May 29: 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.
  • May 30: 4 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.

While in the Powerade Play Zone, moms and dads can sign their children up for the new Little Luggies Kids Club from Charlotte Motor Speedway. Children who join the free membership club will receive an e-mail newsletter with information about special events and happenings at the speedway, a birthday postcard and chances to enter contests for prizes. Members and their families can also participate in Little Luggies Kids Club events at upcoming Charlotte Motor Speedway races.

Tickets for all May races at Charlotte Motor Speedway can be purchased online or by calling the speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS. Friends and family four-pack tickets start at just $39.75 per person for the May 30 Coca-Cola 600 and at $35 per person for the All-Star Race on May 22.
