Monster Trucks to Crush Their Way into The Dirt Track at Charlotte for Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash Presented by Polar Pop
The high-flying action of the most unique vehicles in motorsports will leave fans on the edge of their seats Aug. 11, during the 13th annual Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash presented by Polar Pop at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
The metal-mashing monster trucks expected to compete in head-to-head challenges include last year’s winners Avenger and Hot Tamale, plus Brutus, Equalizer, Hooked, Samson, Spike, Stone Crusher, War Wizard and Wrecking Crew.
Monster trucks are typically 11-feet tall and tip the scales at nearly five tons. Their custom-built, fuel-injected engines produce nearly 2,000 horsepower and the massive machines can jump 110 to 115 feet—a distance greater than 14 cars lined up side-by-side.
The evening of monster mayhem will include the gigantic trucks battling in a crazy freestyle competition, plus a series of one-on-one elimination races over one of the longest monster truck courses in the nation, featuring twisting turns and rim-rattling terrain. Also, returning this year is the always popular over-under element where one truck jumps over the other.
Last year, Hot Tamale beat Samson to the line by a wheel to win the head-to-head challenge portion of the event and Avenger stole the show in his gargantuan ride to take home the trophy in the freestyle contest.
In addition to the monster truck show, there will also be a motocross exhibition by Team FMX Motocross and a performance by master stuntman Super Bob Airborne.
Festivities begin with the Circle K Pre-Race Pit Party from 4-6 p.m., where fans can meet the monster truck drivers, get autographs and have their pictures taken with the enormous racing machines.
Ticket holders can stop by area Circle K stores and bring any size Polar Pop fountain drink for early admission to the Autograph Pit Party. The first 1,000 fans to enter the gates will receive a free autograph poster.
Fans can also feel the thrill with a monster truck ride on Sergeant Smash throughout the day for just $5 per person.
Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. and opening ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m.
Reserved seats for the Aug. 11 Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash presented by Polar Pop are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event for adults and $10 for children 13 and under, or just a buck a truck.
