More Than 32,000 Horsepower On Display Wednesday at Free Fan Event Kicking Off Fall Season of Speed
For the third consecutive year, more than 32,000 horsepower representing every form of motorsports that will be showcased this fall at Charlotte Motor Speedway will make its way down Bruton Smith Boulevard Wednesday, Aug. 7 at noon.
A fan favorite, the annual Parade of Power will travel from Concord Mills Mall to the speedway's main entrance. Fans will be treated to a display of dozens of metal-mashing, turbo-charged machines representing each of the events scheduled to take place during the fall Season of Speed at Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte. A map of the complete parade route is available at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com/tickets/parade_of_power. The event is free and open to the public.
The Parade of Power will include a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car, a NASCAR Nationwide Series car, a monster truck, an NHRA Top Fuel dragster, an NHRA Funny Car, a World of Outlaws Sprint Car, Toyota Camry pace cars, a fire truck, classic and muscle cars and more.
Following the parade, fans will gather outside the speedway for a Q&A with NASCAR personalities, games and other activities. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver David Ragan, NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Trevor Bayne, NASCAR-turned-GRC driver Scott Speed and NHRA Top Fuel veteran Doug Herbert are among the drivers scheduled to appear alongside speedway president Marcus Smith to wave the green flag on Charlotte Motor Speedway's fall Season of Speed.
"The Parade of Power is just one more way Charlotte Motor Speedway is putting fans first," Smith said. "The free event allows fans to get a sneak peek at all of the action-packed events we've got in store over the next five months and to hear from drivers and other motorsports personalities what makes this the greatest place to see the race."
Scheduled to appear are:
David Ragan, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver of the No. 34 Peanut Patch Ford for Front Row Motorsports
Trevor Bayne, NASCAR Nationwide Series driver of the No. 6 Cargill Ford for Roush Fenway Racing
Doug Herbert, NHRA Top Fuel driver and founder of B.R.A.K.E.S. Driving School
Scott Speed, GRC driver of the WIX Filters, N.O.-XPLODE Ford for DRR-SH
Marcus Smith, president and general manager, Charlotte Motor Speedway

Fans in attendance can participate in a question and answer session with the drivers and the first 100 fans to arrive at the speedway Wednesday morning will receive a wristband good for entry into an autograph session in the speedway ticket office following the fan forum. Children 13 and under can take a ride in a monster truck and photo opportunities will be available with all the cars following the parade. The Charlotte Motor Speedway Fan Van, which includes interactive games and other activities, will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
As part of a one-day-only promotion, fans who purchase two tickets to either the Bank of America 500 or the NHRA Carolina Nationals, or purchase qualifying upgrades to tickets they've already purchased, will get the chance to drive their personal vehicle around the legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway in the same tracks where NASCAR greats like Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty and countless others have made so much history.
