The stars of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and the FASTRAK Late Model Racing Series will descend upon the heart of NASCAR country for two action-packed feature races at the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown on May 23. Below are some newsworthy items leading into Friday's event at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Kyle Larson Becomes Latest NASCAR Driver with Sprint Car Team

Kyle Larson joined Kasey Kahne and Tony Stewart this season in the ranks of team owner in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. Larson Marks Racing, which he co-owns with Justin Marks, made its World of Outlaws debut earlier this month at Eldora Speedway with Shane Stewart behind the wheel, coming home with a win. Look for the team to be competitive on Friday night at the lightning-fast, four-tenths-mile clay oval as they search for their second victory of the season.

Daryn Pittman on a Roll

2013 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion Daryn Pittman will be going for his fifth consecutive win on Friday night, which would tie the run that Jason Meyers put together in the fall of 2011 en route to winning his second championship. Pittman has a 19-point lead coming into Friday and is looking for his third career Dirt Track at Charlotte victory. The Kasey Kahne Racing driver scored a win during his last visit to Charlotte, securing his first series championship.

Full Field for FASTRAK Late Model Racing Series Race

There will be a full field on Friday night for the FASTRAK Late Model Series as drivers compete in the $2,000-to-win A-Feature. Matt Long, driver of the No. 25 Circle K Mello Yello Late model is still looking for his first victory at The Dirt Track at Charlotte and is looking forward to besting his second place finish from last May's NDRA Late Model Series race.

"This is always an exciting event to be a part of," explained Long. "I have family, friends and sponsors in town for this race so we definitely hope to have a good showing like we did last year!"

Steve Kinser's Salute to the King Tour

This Friday, fans will get to witness one of legendary dirt track racer Steve Kinser's final races at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. The 20-time World of Outlaws champion will make the first of two stops at the lightning-fast, four-tenths-mile clay oval on his Salute to the King Tour for the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown.

"We always enjoy racing at Charlotte," said Kinser. "It's one of the premier facilities in the country and a place where you want to win. The fans in that area are some of the best around. As a kid from Indiana, Memorial Day Weekend was always special with the Indianapolis 500 and it's no different for people down there with the Coca-Cola 600. It's a huge weekend in racing and winning during that weekend always means a little more. We're excited about the opportunity and hope we can put a good show."

Kinser has competed in 34 of the 35 World of Outlaws races at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. His 450th career World of Outlaws A-Feature win in the fall of 2001 was his first at The Dirt Track. His second triumph at the track came during the inaugural World Finals in 2007. Kinser has earned 20 top-five and 28 top-10s at the track.

Drivers to Participate in Free Autograph Session

Fans can get up close to their favorite drivers and get autographs during a free autograph session located on the concourse at 4:30 p.m., prior to on-track action Friday night. Tony Stewart Racing's Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz along with Kasey Kahne Racing's Cody Darrah and Daryn Pittman are among those expected to participate. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a commemorative event poster.
