Nothing is better on a hot summer night than bringing the entire family out for the Summer Shootout Series, June 13 through July 26, at Charlotte Motor Speedway. In addition to a full slate of short track racing, each night will feature special giveaways for kids, the highly-popular Powerade Play Zone and all of the action will be carried on the world’s largest HDTV.

The seven-week, 10-race series features the best Legend Car and Bandolero racing in the country. Tickets to each family-friendly night of racing are just $7 for adults and $3 for children 6 to 12. Children under 6 are admitted free.

The first 1,000 kids to enter the gate each night will receive a special giveaway such as a diecast car, a beach bag or other prizes. Children can also visit the Powerade Play Zone and enjoy bounce houses, face painting and interactive games at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Fan Van. Each night one lucky family will receive a free Myrtle Beach vacation, courtesy of MyrtleBeachHotels.com.

Families will also enjoy racing action on the world’s largest HDTV and will get the chance to see themselves on the gigantic 80 foot by 200 foot screen.

Highlighted events at the Summer Shootout Series include Mascot Mania featuring Lug Nut, the world’s fastest mascot, and all of his local mascot friends competing in a special race; school bus races; and a special Fourth of July fireworks show.

More than 100 Legend Car and Bandolero competitors will travel across the country to battle on Charlotte Motor Speedway’s frontstretch quarter-mile oval for the prestigious Summer Shootout Series championship.

Legend Car racing is divided into four categories based on a driver’s experience. The Pro division features veteran drivers while the Semi-Pro category is for those with limited Legend Car experience. The Young Lions division is for those new to Legend Car racing and the Masters division is for drivers 40 and older.
Bandolero cars are divided into three divisions with competitors grouped by age. The Bandits division is for racers 8 to 11 and the Outlaws category features drivers 12 and older. The Beginner Bandits is for racers in their first year of competition.

Tickets for the Summer Shootout Series are available in advance at the speedway ticket office and at Gates 4 and 5 the night of the event. Parking is free. Spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with preliminary action starting at 5 p.m. Feature races are scheduled to conclude by approximately 9:30 p.m.
