In what has become a summertime tradition, the Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash is back, along with family-favorite activities including the Monster Truck Scout Camporee and the Circle K Pre-Race Pit Party at The Dirt Track at Charlotte on Saturday, Aug. 13.

The Monster Truck Scout Camporee is returning for its fifth consecutive year and area scouts and their parents can enjoy an evening of monster truck madness, followed by a sleepover under the stars, in the infield of Charlotte Motor Speedway. Last year, nearly 450 scouts and parents participated in the Scout Camporee.

“The thing our guys like is the chance to get up close and personal with the monster trucks. To climb on them; to have their pictures taken; to meet all the drivers,” said Mike Bernhardt, Cub Master of Cub Scout Pack 377 and Scout Leader of Boy Scout Troop 377 in Mooresville, N.C.

“The event is a lot of fun for them. They get to see cars bash each other and then sometimes turn over. And just have a good time watching some clean fun like that.”

This is Bernhardt’s third year of participating in the Scout Camporee. He will bring with him about 75 participants, including their family members.

“They enjoy going over and being in the infield. One of the things they really love is being able to actually climb up on the track to see how high the banking is and some take the hike all the way around the track to see how long it is. It’s just something different for them.”

The Scout Camporee, hosted by Charlotte Motor Speedway and area Scout Councils, is conducted in conjunction with the Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

The sleepover package includes a ticket to the Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash, a camp-out in the Charlotte Motor Speedway infield, a commemorative sleepover patch and a light breakfast Sunday morning.

Tickets for the sleepover package are $15 for children ages 12 and under and $27 for adults. Tickets for scouts who only want to attend the Circle K Monster Truck Bash are just $9 for children and $23 for adults.

Families can also enjoy the Circle K Pre-Race Pit Party from 4-6 p.m., where they can meet the monster truck drivers, obtain autographs and have their pictures taken with the enormous racing machines. Ticket holders can receive a special commemorative poster by purchasing a ThirstBuster Cup at any Circle K store and presenting the empty cup at the gate for the Pit Party.

The Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash held Saturday, Aug. 13, features the monstrous machines battling in a series of one-on-one elimination races over the longest monster truck course in the country. The course includes the over-under element where one truck jumps over the other. The gigantic vehicles will also face-off in an insane freestyle competition.

Equalizer, Samson, War Wizard, Brutus, Hot Tamale and Avenger are among the monster trucks expected to compete in head-to-head challenges at The Dirt Track.

In addition to the monster truck show, the night will include several motocross exhibitions featuring some of the top riders in the area. There will also be two special Kawasaki Monster Energy off-road motorcycles raffled off at the event.

Fans in attendance at the monster truck show can also experience what the drivers do with the opportunity to take monster truck rides throughout the day for just $5 per person.

Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. and opening ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m.

Reserved seats for the Aug. 13 Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash are just $10 for children 12 and under and $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event for adults.
