Something for Everyone at NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals
Two of the country's top sanctioning bodies for street-legal drag racing, the National Mustang Racing Association and the National Muscle Car Association, will converge on zMAX Dragway Aug. 6 - 8 for the second annual NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals. Drag racing and automotive lovers alike will be sure to find plenty of on- and off-track excitement during the affordable three-day event.
Two Events for the Price of One
The NMRA and NMCA will each conduct an individual event, the NMRA Ford Nationals and the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals, at the Bellagio of drag strips. Fans in attendance will witness the world's best street-legal muscle car drag racers competing at the world's only all-concrete, four-lane drag strip. Whether you're a rabid Ford Motor Co. fan or a muscle car fanatic, the racing will keep you on the edge of your seat all weekend long. All of the NMRA's all-Ford classes will compete and fans will also be treated to a Chevrolet versus Ford versus Mopar battle when the NMCA's wheels-up classes race for glory. Gates open Friday Aug. 6 and Saturday Aug. 7 at 8 a.m. and Sunday Aug. 9 at 9 a.m. Qualifying takes place on Friday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and continues Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Eliminations begin Saturday at 1 p.m. The event culminates Sunday with pre-race ceremonies at 10:30 a.m. and final eliminations for the NMRA/NMCA participants at noon.
Giant Car Show Saturday and Sunday
The NMRA and NMCA will each host a massive car show on Saturday and Sunday during the NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals. Muscle cars, hot rods, trucks and specialty vehicles will compete for a chance to win more than 50 awards each day including Best Body and Paint, Best Interior and Best of Show. Each year the NMRA and NMCA car show attracts some of the most beautiful and collectible stock and modified muscle cars and hot rods in the United States. Awards will be given out Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
Manufacturers' Midway and Display Area with Something for Every Fan
Looking to buy some parts for your Mustang or other Ford vehicle? How about for a Chevrolet or Mopar? Do you want the chance to talk with performance experts about your automobile? The manufacturers' midway at the NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals will feature great deals on performance parts for muscle cars and hot rods. There is also a used parts swap meet for fans looking for that special hard-to-find car part. Displays along the midway will include a number of motorsports and automotive dealers, as well as vendors such as Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels and Ford Racing.
Nation's Finest are Ready for zMAX Dragway
Chris Rini and Chris Tuten are just two of the hundreds of drivers who will compete at zMAX Dragway this weekend. Rini, a passenger on U.S. Airways Flight 1549 from New York to Charlotte, N.C., that crashed into the Hudson River, is a record-setting racer with multiple championships under his belt. He is currently competing in the NMCA Pro Street class where he is second in points and has two wins to his credit. Tuten, from Pelion, S.C., has been drag racing for 15 years and claimed the 2003 NMRA Real Street World Championship and 2005 NMRA Drag Radial World Championship. He has been competing in the NMRA Super Street Outlaw class for the last three seasons. Both Rini and Tuten are excited to return to zMAX Dragway to compete in the second annual NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals.
Four Jet Cars Blast down the Bellagio of Drag Strips
Four jet engine-powered dragsters, an elite group of exhibition vehicles in the world of drag racing, will unleash 20,000 horsepower on zMAX Dragway's four lanes as they soar down the strip simultaneously in an epic exhibition. Each jet car will reach speeds of more than 270 miles per hour. One of those cars will be driven by Elaine Larsen, driver and team owner of the Embry-Riddle Jet Dragster. Larsen has more than a decade of racing experience and is one of only a few women in the world who currently drive jet dragsters. The exhibitions are scheduled for Friday at 9:55 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and 8:55 p.m. and Sunday at 3:45 p.m.
Tickets are $25 each day or $70 for a weekend pass. Children 12 and under are admitted free all weekend when accompanied by an adult. For more information on the NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals at zMAX Dragway visit www.zmaxdragway.com.
