Charlotte Motor Speedway officials announced a new television agreement with SPEED today for coverage of the Legends Million, the largest grassroots race in history, taking place at the track July 15-17.

SPEED’s national telecast will air Saturday, July 17, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The program will include live coverage of the 100-lap A-Main feature and taped highlights from Thursday and Friday night’s action.

U.S. Legend Cars International and Charlotte Motor Speedway announced the inaugural Legends Million earlier this year. The biggest Legend Car race ever, the Legends Million is a one-of-a-kind grassroots event featuring a total purse of $1 million with the A-Main winner guaranteed to take home an unprecedented $250,000. The final spot in the feature is assured $10,000.

“Big events draw national attention and that’s why we’re excited to have the Legends Million on SPEED, the country’s foremost TV network dedicated to motorsports,” said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. “If a race fan can’t make it to Charlotte, we know they’ll be captivated by seeing the race cars that launched the careers of NASCAR drivers like Joey Logano, David Ragan, and Kyle Busch. It’s going to be an amazing show.”

Competitors will complete time trials to determine their starting position in the heat races. Drivers will progress to B and C-Mains based on their finishing position in the heats. The starting lineup for the A-Main will consist of heat race winners and the first-place finishers from the B-Mains. A total of 30 competitors will race in the feature event. The A-Main will be 100 laps with a 15-minute break at lap 50.

Competitor registration is open for the Legends Million and can be completed online. Competitors who purchase a new Legend Car from U.S. Legend Cars International will receive free entry into the race. For more information, call U.S. Legend Cars International headquarters at (704) 455-3896.

Pit passes will be available for purchase at the pit gate during the weekend. Grandstand tickets are currently available for purchase online or by calling the speedway's ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS (3267).
