The infield of Charlotte Motor Speedway will be filled with thousands of classic hot rod roadsters and colorful custom masterpieces when the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals cruises into town Oct. 28-30. Below is a listing of some of the activities in which automotive enthusiasts of all ages can participate during the event weekend.

Goodguys Show Overview
The 18th annual Goodguys Southeastern Nationals is a giant outdoor event featuring more than 2,000 pre-1972 hot rods, custom cars, classics, muscle cars and trucks. Lil’ deuce coupes, hot rod roadsters, chopped Merc customs, Hemi Cudas, Six Pack Challengers, Boss 429 Mustangs, Pontiac GTOs and many other specialty vehicles will be on display at the 1.5-mile superspeedway. Also included in the national show are vendor exhibits, a swap meet, car corral area with vehicles for sale and many activities for children.

New For 2011: Sunday Get-Together Welcomes All American-Powered Classics
The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association will hold a new Sunday Get-Together promotion for the Oct. 28-30 Goodguys Southeastern Nationals, welcoming American-made or American-powered cars and trucks of all years, makes and models to the event on Sunday only. Goodguys will select up to 10 Sunday Get-Together awards and will keep the AutoCross road course open for Super Sunday registrants to participate. A one-day fee will charged at registration. Two Chances to Drive on the Track: Cruise Under the Lights and Super Sunday Track Cruise
Car enthusiasts who want to take their hot rod for a spin on Charlotte Motor Speedway’s legendary 1.5-mile oval will have two chances to do so during the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals. On Saturday, Oct. 29, Goodguys will host the Cruise Under the Lights from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Spectators are invited to watch the cruise from the speedway's frontstretch grandstand or while dining in The Speedway Club. On Sunday, Oct. 30, any vehicle registered for the Sunday Get-Together promotion can take part in the Super Sunday Track Cruise at 4 p.m. Tickets for both cruises will be available on the first floor of Smith Tower for show participants.

Car Enthusiasts From 32 States and Canada to Participate; Advance Registration Up Over 2010
More than 2,000 custom and modified cars from 32 states and Canada will descend on Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals. Advance car registration is currently up more than four percent from 2010, meaning there will be that many more hot rods and custom machines at the speedway for spectators to enjoy.

Make and Take Models for the Kids, Affordable Ticket Pricing Make Goodguys a Family Affair
In addition to enjoying the thousands of cool cars, the youngest of automotive enthusiasts can have fun making a model to take home during the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals, Oct. 28-30. Kids can participate in the free Make-N-Take model building area, organized by model enthusiast George Henry from Mooresville, N.C. Henry has more than 600 model car displays in his home and another 7,500 in storage including collectibles from the 1960s that Henry Ford gave as Christmas gifts. The Make-N-Take model building area will open at 1 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday in the Nationwide Series garage. Children 6 and under are admitted free to the Goodguys car show while tickets for children ages 7 to 12 are just $6.

Camping Available; The Speedway Club Open to Public
The Tom Johnson Camping Center Racing Resort at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be open for camping during the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals. Back-in sites are available for only $30 per night and include water, sewer and 30/50 amp electric amenities. Located just off Bruton Smith Boulevard, the Tom Johnson Camping Center Racing Resort is close to the speedway, a short drive from the shopper's paradise of Concord Mills and adjacent to the renowned Rocky River Golf Course. Thursday
Poker Run to Launch Event
The Goodguys Southeastern Nationals will get underway in style on Thursday with a Poker Run. Show participants will arrive at the speedway a day ahead of the car show to participate in the Poker Run, which leaves Smith Tower at 9 a.m. en route to area hot rod shops and other attractions. The run concludes at 1 p.m. at Fatman Fabrications in Charlotte, N.C., with a weekend kick-off party.

Friday
Street Challenge Autocross to Test Man and Machine
The Goodguys Southeastern Nationals Street Challenge Autocross is taking place at 13 events across the United States, including Oct. 28-30 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Spectators can watch as Autocross participants put their street rod or truck through the paces to test their driving skills and see how their car handles in a performance situation. All participants will be timed and at the end of the event one winner from each of the Street Rod, Truck and Street Machine classes will take home an award. Autocross times are Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Richard Petty Driving Experience Rides Offered Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Visitors to the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals show who want to experience Charlotte Motor Speedway up close can participate in a ride-along with the Richard Petty Driving Experience Friday night, Oct. 28, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Each ride-along participant will receive three laps in a NASCAR Sprint Cup-style stock car driven by professional instructors at speeds approaching 160 mph. Sunday
Awards Show to Close Event
The Goodguys Southeastern Nationals hold their award ceremony Sunday at approximately 3:00 p.m. More than 100 of the event’s top cars will be recognized in award categories including Trick Truck Pick, Speedway Motors Homebuilt Pick, Flowmaster American Thunder Award, Meguiar’s Magnificent Masterpiece Award, Lincoln’s “Red Hot” Hot Rod Award and YoungGuys Pick.

Tickets for the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals are available at the gate or online at www.good-guys.com. Adult tickets are $18 per day with children ages 7 to 12 admitted for $6. Kids 6 and under are free. Parking for the event is $5.
