NASCAR and Home Depot Team Up For New Award: - In the second press announcement of the afternoon, officials from NASCAR and Home Depot announced the first annual NASCAR/Home Depot Humanitarian Award. The award will be presented at the National Motorsports Press Association luncheon during Champions Week at the end of the season in New York City.

The award will be given to any active member of the NASCAR community including driver, car owner, crew member, media member, track employee or sponsor that contributes to helping others, giving of their time, and to his or her community.

The winner will receive a crystal award and a $100,000 donation made by The Home Depot to the recipients' charity of choice. The two runners-up will each receive a $25,000 donation to their charity of choice.

In making the announcement NASCAR's Jim Hunter said, "We want to award the person who has done the most to serve the community and others less fortunate."

Kevin Martinez from The Home Depot said, "There are so many good people to choose from. The winner will also get a playground built with help from the NASCAR family in the community of his or her choice."
