Bank of America 500 Pit Note #8
Thoughts about the last NASCAR Nextel Cup practice session for Saturday night's (Oct. 13) Bank of America 500:
JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 36 Davis/360 OTC Toyota) - "You tell them, if my crew chief makes all the right calls, I'm optimistic that we'll win this race. That is, if everybody will stay out of my way. We found some things that have helped this car a lot."
LARRY McCLURE (car owner, No. 4 State Water Heaters/Lucas Oil Chevrolet, driver Ward Burton) - "We made a couple of changes which seemed to have helped the car some. He just wasn't right in a couple of spots last night during qualifying " [Burton was 15th fastest.]
RICKY RUDD (No. 88, Yates/Snickers Ford) - First time back since a shoulder injury. "I feel pretty good, but I'm still sore in some spots. This is not a bad car. We ran it a couple of times earlier. We should be okay. We need some good things to happen for this team and Doug (Yates) before the season's over."
EDDIE JONES (team manager, No. 49 BAM/Paralyzed Veterans of America Dodge, driver John Andretti) - "We found a little more grip for the car and should be decent, at least, for tomorrow night's race."
BOBBY KENNEDY (team manager, Michael Waltrip Racing, Toyota Nos. 00 of David Reutimann and 55 of Michael Waltrip) - "We're actually okay. Maybe not exactly where we'd like to be, but I think we can do real well tomorrow night."
