Thunder Car Race Winner

Michael Van Wingerden (no. 23, Metrolina Greenhouses) - "It was a lot of fun. My brother and I talked before the race that we were going to work together. And try to lead as many laps as we could, and let it come down to the last turn. I couldn't have done it without him. So, I have to thank him first. It's a ton of fun out there. We get to come out here and race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. To be here for Humpy's last race and win at this since he kind of basically started this series. He has helped us along the whole time. He comes to our drivers meetings and gives us a lot of encouragement. This has been really cool. On that last lap, I was just hoping he would give me room and I was hoping he would think I would give him enough room. It was pretty amazing to win here twice now. We are pretty fortunate to do that. It wasn't as bad today as the fist time we did it last week. That was nerve racking since I put my dad in the wall. This is all new to us and we are learning to do this and work together. Just as long as we respect each other it worked well.

Thomas Van Wingerden (no. 12, finished second to brother in Thunder Car 50) - "I think I beat my brother, if they'll go back to the photo-finish camera. That was a lot of fun and it was a good run for both of us. He gave me the lead early on and then we got together a little bit. Luckily we were able to get together in the draft and break away a little bit from the rest of the field. We always try to finish first and second but Michael won it this time. It's awesome to race with him like that and it was a good time for us both."

Kara Clarke (no. 21, finished third) - "I just have to thank my crew and all my friends out on the track that were drafting with me. This is just a fun race track and I love running the big tracks. On these kinds of tracks you just have to be patient. Drafting is a lot of fun. Hopefully we'll get to come back to the Quaker Steak & Lube Summer Shootout and have a little more fun with this."
