NHRA Drivers Impressed By New zMAX Dragway @ Concord - Jeg Coughlin is a three-time NHRA Pro Stock Champion and his team is based in nearby Mooresville, North Carolina. "This is going to be a pinnacle facility for NHRA Powerade Series to come to," said Coughlin. "It will be the first event following the US Nationals, the first of our six races in the Countdown to the Championship. I am very, very excited to have that start right here the second week of September. NHRA is very proud to be here. It should be an exciting event."

John Force was in his usual rare form. He is the first driver to win 1,000 rounds of competition and is a 14-time NHRA World Champion in Funny Car. "It's great to be back here in Charlotte and great to be back here with our big brothers, the NASCAR boys," said Force. "When I saw the track, it was unbelievable. Bruton Smith, God bless him, I'll give him a big old kiss when I see him. In this market and to build that kind of race track, God bless him, because it's a four-laner. It's state-of-the-art. When we see a facility like this, the millions that we pump into the sport, a playground like that is really exciting. We're excited, and thank you."

Mike Neff is a former crew chief that turned to driving a fourth John Force Racing Funny Car. "It should be exciting," said Neff. "I haven't been around this many people in one place in my life. The dragstrip going up across the street is really exciting."
