NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Pit Note # 6
Ron Hornaday won the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway Friday night. Kyle Busch followed in second place, and Matt Crafton took third.
(Kyle Busch, No. 51 Miccosukee Resort Toyota, finished second) - "Enough went on there where I don't even know where to start. Somehow, we had problems on pit road, too many guys over pit wall. I don't know what kind of a miscue that was, but I guess we got that figured out there, because we only had four over the wall at the end. I had to go to the back there, then I got a penalty for rough driving when I was rolling out of the throttle to let those guys race out here to the left a little bit, and got into the quarter panel of the 6 and wrecked him and the 16 by accident. I'm sure they're not happy about it, but I'm not very happy about the 33 and the Chevrolets having the advantage that they do. It's just frustrating to have to race against that. I mean a guy that just pulls down to the bottom of the race track like that and drives by you, it is just insane and it happens every week. It's just very frustrating to have to race against those guys. I guess that's probably how other guys feel about us on the JGR side in the Nationwide Series.
"I'd say we would have a better shot if we were in a Chevrolet. And that's no disrespect to Toyota, I think they've got a great program; they just have a smaller plate. We need to work on our chassis a little bit to make those better so we can corner and we'll never be able to keep up with those guys down the straightaway. We run restrictor plates in the Camping World Truck Series; it's a tapered spacer is what they call it, and we have a smaller one than what the Chevrolets use, so it restricts more horsepower from us than it does the Chevrolets."
(Matt Crafton, No. 88 McGuire-Nicholas/Menards Chevrolet, finished third) - "The truck was a new truck, and it rolled off the trailer horrible. If you'd have told me we were going to finish third in the first practice I would have told you you were crazy."
(Tayler Malsam, No. 81 One Eighty Toyota, Top Raybestos Rookie, finished 8th) - "This One Eighty team did an amazing job to get back out there after the spin. I hate to see it for Skinner, I felt like he had a fast truck, too. It just shows that Randy Moss Motorsports is here to stay since we both ran up front all night."
(Ron Hornaday, No. 33 Longhorn Chevrolet, race winner) - "We pitted and we needed fuel. We didn't want to run out; we had a pretty good truck. We took the consequences and the yellow came out. It worked out pretty good for us."
[On Kyle Busch complaining] "Why did he go by me on the back straightaway like I was standing still? He set his truck up free, and I set my truck up tight. I've lost four or five races to him when he's put tires on at the end. So we won and he finished second." (On Skinner's accident) "I don't look at points that way. I was more concerned about Skinner's safety; I know he got upside down. I hate Mike Skinner on the race track, but I love him like a brother outside of it. You don't want to see anybody get hurt."
